Rough Winds

Life can be wild sometimes. When “rough winds” hit, sometimes our sense of security and stableness is blown apart. These times can become confusing. Change is in the air. And change can feel like “rough winds” at times.

It is at these times, it may be helpful to bring in a second party who is not emotionally involved in the “rough winds” of your circumstances. This may be a qualified therapist who understands and is empathic with the precariousness of change; and yet is an encouragement to your strength and courage in the midst of change.

I, as a trained therapist, would like to join with you on your life journey for a season of time. Depending on your situation, I offer treatment modalities which address your specific needs. These could include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which looks at the relationship between beliefs, thoughts, and feelings; solution-focused therapy, which focuses on your current situation and helps to identify strategies to improve your present; and attachment theory, which encompasses looking at your history and seeing how that might be affecting your present. There are many therapeutic theories and styles of treatment. Not only do I emphasize talk therapy, but also art therapy, or music therapy. I believe creativity and humor enrich our life experience and would invite these gifts to be part of our time together.

Words that I believe are empowering and strong are authenticity, truth, courage, hope, love, and growth. These words will help you move through those “rough winds” and make room for calmer weather.
